Syntec Optics Holdings Inc. said orders for its optical sub-systems used in laser-guided missiles rose 40%, pushing total order value past $1.2 million as the US and allied nations replenish military inventories.
"The new orders reflect an urgent need to replenish US and allied military inventories with combat-proven, reliable technology," Matt Carey, vice president of business development and delivery at Syntec Optics, said. The company's cockpit-programmable optics allow aircrews to select impact angles and attack directions in real time, he added.
Total order value has surpassed $1.2 million, up from the nearly $850,000 baseline reported in the company's first-quarter defense platform announcement. Syntec has already fulfilled about 23% of the current orders, CFO Dean Rudy said. The company anticipates continued growth as defense inventories are replenished globally, he added.
Syntec Optics provides high-precision optics and opto-mechanical subsystems that enable munitions to detect laser-designated targets. The company's advanced manufacturing optics integrate with onboard processing systems that calculate flight path corrections for nose-mounted fins and tail-section guidance systems. For more than two decades, Syntec has manufactured complex optics from difficult-to-work-with materials for missile defense and national security applications.
The Rochester, New York-based company employs nearly 180 people and is one of the largest US custom manufacturers of high-precision optics and photonics. Its products support missions ranging from low-Earth-orbit satellites to advanced defense platforms and AI data centers.
OPTX stock has returned 619% over the past year, though shares fell 20% in the past week. The company carries a market capitalization of about $400 million against $27.5 million in revenue over the last twelve months, according to InvestingPro data.
The order growth signals that Syntec's defense platform is gaining traction as global military spending accelerates. Investors will watch for further order announcements and the company's next quarterly update for visibility on production capacity and margin trends.
