Interactive Brokers now offers ChatGPT and Grok alongside Claude on its trading platform, letting retail and institutional clients research markets and generate orders using natural language without sharing passwords or API keys.
"We continue to see growing interest from investors in using artificial intelligence as a more natural way to interact with financial markets," Milan Galik, Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Brokers, said.
The integration, available through certified AI connector marketplaces, supports equities, ETFs, options, futures and futures options — expanding beyond the initial equities-only capability. Clients link their existing IBKR accounts in minutes at no extra cost, with every order instruction reviewed in a dedicated AI Instructions tab before submission to the market.
The move positions Interactive Brokers among the first major brokers to offer multi-model AI access directly within a trading workflow, potentially driving higher engagement and trading volumes. The company serves more than 2 million client accounts globally, competing with Charles Schwab and Robinhood Markets in the retail brokerage space.
How the AI Integration Works
Clients can ask the AI to identify options strategies to protect gains on their five largest stock positions, generate order instructions for futures contracts, or compute technical indicators such as RSI across their holdings. The AI can also benchmark aggregate portfolio performance against a relevant index ETF and flag overbought or oversold positions.
The new integrations complement IBKR's existing AI-powered tools available directly within its platforms. These include AI Screeners that rank matches from more than 70,000 global stocks based on natural language descriptions, Investment Themes that connect companies to trends such as clean energy or cloud computing, and Ask IBKR, which answers portfolio questions grounded in account data.
Competitive Context
The brokerage AI race has intensified as firms seek to differentiate their platforms. Robinhood Markets has introduced AI-powered portfolio analysis, while Charles Schwab offers AI-driven research summaries. Interactive Brokers' approach of supporting multiple third-party AI models — rather than building a proprietary assistant — gives clients flexibility to choose their preferred interface.
IBKR shares trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker IBKR. The company reported $4.8 billion in total revenues for 2025, up 18% from the prior year, according to its annual filing. The AI integration does not generate direct revenue but could boost trading volumes and client retention over time.
