Injective on April 30 announced the launch of Injective Agents, a platform that enables autonomous AI agents to trade, manage positions, and earn fees directly on its layer-1 financial blockchain using verifiable on-chain identities.
Unlike anonymous bots, each agent registered on the new platform is assigned a unique on-chain identity based on the EIP-8004 standard, which provides an auditable history, an NFT profile, and a dedicated fee recipient address. This framework moves automated trading away from opaque systems and toward a model of verifiable, autonomous actors operating directly on the blockchain.
The emphasis on verifiable identity addresses a critical security challenge as AI agents become more autonomous. As noted by security experts, granting AI agents access to systems without a unique identity creates risks of over-provisioned permissions and untraceable actions. By embedding identity directly on-chain, Injective’s framework allows for clear attribution of every transaction, a crucial step for governing autonomous systems that can execute trades faster than human operators.
Injective’s launch enters a rapidly developing sector focused on building payment and identity rails for the emerging agent economy. The move follows recent announcements from crypto exchange OKX, which unveiled an Agent Payments Protocol for autonomous agent commerce, and Kite, which raised $35 million to build a passport and payment infrastructure for AI agents. These initiatives signal a broader industry push to create a foundational layer for AI-driven economic activity, positioning on-chain identity and settlement as core components.
The platform could attract a new class of developers to the Injective network, enabling the creation of sophisticated and transparent automated trading strategies. By providing the core infrastructure for on-chain AI agents, the launch may increase trading volume and enhance the utility of the native INJ token within its ecosystem.
